About:
Cartographer Records is a record label whose mission is to help small independent artists record and release original music. The organization was founded in 2020 by Bryan Gottshall and James Black as a way to aid musicians seeking to release music in their respective communities of Mobile, AL and New Orleans, LA. The label seeks to give musicians a way to record their music and have it professionally mixed and mastered. Cartographer also guides artists during the release process, and helps explore different distribution channels and physical or digital formats.
OddCollege:
Housed on the 3rd floor of Alabama Contemporary, OddCollege pays rent through an exchange of robust programming commitments including a video concert series and other projects, then pays the rest of its costs through commercial album recording. As a full service recording studio, OddCollege’s programming centers around seeding growth in cultural production in the South.
