Adult Education

Alabama Contemporary offers classes and workshops for adults of all skill levels. Studio art classes are led by professional artists and experienced educators.

Black Life Arts and Culture Coalition

The Black Life Arts and Culture Coalition (BLACC) is an independent committee working under the umbrella of the Alabama Contemporary Art Center.

Artist In Residence

Alabama Contemporary’s residency program is designed so that the artist may grow their practice and provide space to experiment outside their typical work. In its second iteration, the program offers free studio space and use of the facilities to one artist per two-year period, culminating in an exhibition of their work at the end of the residency.

Cartographer Records

Cartographer Records is a record label whose mission is to help small independent artists record and release original music. Housed on the 3rd floor of Alabama Contemporary, Cartographer Studio pays int rent through an exchange of robust programming commitments including a video concert series and patchwork symphony, administered through the Higher Ground Society.
