Unmasking Alzheimer’s
Join us for a talk and workshop led by Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel, a fierce Alzheimer’s advocate, artist, and author from Elmira, NY. Her recently published book, Unmasking Alzheimer’s, describes her perspective on living with Alzheimer’s through the 30 masks she created. Her book provides an opportunity for people to discuss the changes and challenges that come with this diagnosis. Cynthia states, “Life doesn’t end after an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Everyone faces crisis, but the real challenge is moving from ‘Why me?’ to ‘What’s next?’”.
Cynthia will talk about her journey of living with Alzheimer’s and how mask-making helped her illustrate her experiences. Directly following the talk, participants are invited to create their own masks. All supplies are provided. This program is free and open to the public.
