Join us for an afternoon open mic spoken word event hosted at the Historic Avenue Cultural Center hosted by Tiffany Pogue. All are invited to recite their own words, perform words from their favorite poets, or to simply sit and soak in the words of others. Kindred Yoga will join us on the terrace at ACAC on the last Saturday morning of every month, from 9-10 a.m. This drop-in session will feature a 45-minute yoga flow followed by 15 minutes of mingling with fresh, cold-pressed juices for sale from Ginger & Spice.

Neu Dawn, the hybrid fashion/art/music brainchild of Courtney Matthews, is back for its 6th iteration. This creative project brings together over 70+ creatives to experiment with large-scale multimedia pieces paired with costumes designed around the Pantone color of the year and a song selected by Matthews.

In this installation, Jenny Day’s raucous use of materials – blown glass, mirrors, wood, fiber, fur, semi-precious stones, beads, bits and baubles – establishes a sculptural feast of celebratory chaos. Drawing on her deep concern for the planet’s ecological health, Day invites us to see that what we build eventually falls down and what we attempt to discard may return to haunt us.

Alabama Contemporary Art Center is open every second Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. with entry by donation for Downtown Mobile’s monthly LODA Artwalk, and we almost always have a special visitors, programs, exhibitions, and/or activities to celebrate creative thinking. The Member Bar is also available to our adult members during each Artwalk while they enjoy all artist talks, exhibitions, and programs.
