Live Demonstration at LoDA Artwalk

January 12, 2018, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Alabama Contemporary Art Center
301 Conti Street
Mobile, Alabama

FREE and open to all ages

Meet Back to Havana artist Daniel Rodriguez Garcia, learn about his work at the Taller Experimental de Gráfica and Kcho Estudio Romerillo in Havana, and witness a live demonstration in which Rodriguez reimagines and repurposes everyday objects as tools for artistic creation.

This event is part of Havana Printmaking Week, when Rodriguez returns to Mobile for a series of events and workshops designed to explore Cuban culture through his innovative approach to storytelling through print. This fun and educational week features activities for all ages including a two-day experimental printmaking workshop, a special photo manipulation Kid’s Studio at Mobile Public Library and special papermaking Senior Studio, and a live printmaking demonstration during LoDA Artwalk.

Generous funding for Havana Printmaking Week and our current exhibition Back to Havana is provided by Wind Creek Hospitality and also by The City of Mobile, and Mobile County Commission, Alabama State Council on the Arts, The Hearin-Chandler Foundation, The Daniel Foundation of Alabama, The Crampton Trust, The Sybil H. Smith Charitable Trust, Visit Mobile, The Support The Arts License Tag, and The Community Foundation of South Alabama.

We are also grateful for the support of our media partners: IHeartMedia, Alabama Public Radio, and Alabama Coasting. Back to Havana features a number of works graciously loaned by the collection of Terri and Steven Certilman – Discoveries in Art and is a P.S. Satellite, a project of Prospect New Orleans. Photo: Richard Dollison / rdollison.500px.com
